When people hear about One Degree mentoring, they often think it’s another form of tutoring—but it’s so much more. While regular tutoring focuses primarily on academic content, our mentoring approach goes beyond the syllabus to empower young people.

Tailored Support with Proven Impact

In the past three months alone, we’ve hosted an incredible 25,000 minutes of free, personalised mentoring, supporting struggling young people with 400 individual sessions. Students leave with a sense of accomplishment, reflected in our stellar 4.9 out of 5 average rating.

Each session, averaging 28 minutes, is designed to build confidence—primarily in GCSE maths and English. But the beauty of One Degree mentoring is its flexibility. Sessions often branch out into other GCSE subjects (depending on the mentor’s expertise) and include career guidance and personal development.

The Evolution of Mentoring

Since we began in 2009, our focus has been clear: help young people overcome barriers and achieve their potential. But it wasn’t until 2018 that we launched our online mentoring platform, and in 2024, we doubled down on a fully 1-on-1, online-first approach. This autonomous model has been nothing short of transformative.

Unlike traditional tutoring, where schedules are often fixed, One Degree mentoring gives students the autonomy to choose days and times that suit their learning styles. Whether it’s after school, on a weekend, or during a quiet evening, they control their learning environment.
