The below will outline what will be covered, what to consider and what to expect on your One Degree GCSE student introduction call.
Purpose of the call:
- We will introduce you to One Degree
- We want to learn about you as the One Degree student
- We will explain how your mentoring will work
- We will show you how to book mentors
- We will allow you to ask questions
- We want to see if you will be right for One Degree
What you will need to do:
- Arrive on time
- Find a quiet place to take the video call
- Use the laptop or desktop (not your phone) – use the device that you will use for your online mentoring (this allows us to test everything is working fine for you)
- Please be ready to turn your camera and mic on – you can test your camera and mic ahead of time by using your meeting link
- Bring any questions you have
- Bring a parent or guardian along if you wish
Please DO NOT do the following:
- Arrive late
- Be distracted by your family or friends
- Use your phone
- Keep your camera and/mic off – you can test your camera and mic ahead of time by using your meeting link
- Ask no questions
After the call:
You will usually have some things you will need to do after your introduction call. Things like:
- Complete any pre-programme admin
- Set up your One Degree mentoring account
Your first two weeks on the One Degree mentoring platform:
- Add a profile photo (required)
- Complete the Using One Degree online course (required – takes 15 mins)
- Book an introduction call with our Maths and/or English teachers (if available)
- Start booking the mentors you need
- Book weekly catch ups with Roger if required
